Wishing I was in the World for the 4th

We were married June 30th 2007 and on July 1st we woke up bright and early and headed off to the World for our magical Disney Honeymoon! And it was just that...magical! We stayed at the Grand Floridian and really decided to splurge, so we stayed concierge as well. We were spoiled from the moment we stepped onto Disney property! We booked a Magic Kingdom view, and were lucky enough to have one of the turret rooms that had a view of the MK, the lagoon and Epcot. My husband is a fireworks fanatic, so you know he was thrilled that we were going to be in Disney for the 4th of July. The fireworks are fa-nominal on any giving day at Disney, so you can imagine what they are like on a holiday like the 4th. Oh my! That is all I can say...they are just breath-taking! They don't just set fireworks off in front of the castle, they set them off ALL around the lagoon and have them set to patriotic music. And with the room we had, we didn't have to leave the comforts of our room to see them. Got a few snacks and drinks from the concierge lounge and just opened the windows to hear the music and enjoy the spectacular show! And here is a little known fact, Disney always does at least one "test night" before the 4th to make sure everything looks the way it should before the big night...so we got to see the show twice! I will try to post some pictures so that you can see them.

We went back to the World for our 1st Anniversary. And because we are crazy and wanted to try to relive our honeymoon, we again booked our stay at the Grand Floridian concierge level! We requested the same room that we had for our honeymoon, but they were unfortunately not able to accommodate that request, so we got a room on a level that is just for honeymooners and anniversary guests. We were right above The Gasparilla Grill and had a direct view of the castle in this room. We were a little disappointed that we didn't have the big room with the 8 windowed view of the lagoon, but this room had a different advantage. It had a balcony that you could relax on AND since the pipe the music into the GF for the fireworks, we were right above the speakers and didn't have to strain to hear the music this year. We have great video of the fireworks show and you can even hear me tearing up a little because of how much the show took my breath away.

We did not return for our 2nd Anniversary because our son was born a few months before it and sadly enough, we did not return this year for our 3rd either. We decided to wait and go at the end of August when the rates drop a little and hopefully the crowd levels are little lower. So, I have to say...I am wishing I was in my laughing place and enjoying all that the World has to offer on this patriotic holiday. But whether I am in Disney or in good old NJ, God Bless America and thank you to everyone who fought for our freedom and continues to defend this great nation each and every day!
